CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack search-and-rescue efforts for the senior who was reported missing Friday, November 28, have been suspended at sundown as leads remain scarce.

Police say 85-year-old Walter Schmur left his residence near Peach Road and has not been seen since.

RCMP Air 1 and SAR were deployed yesterday.

SAR continued both water and land efforts today, but had negative results that could further their search.

“The Chilliwack RCMP will continue with their investigation and ask the public to continue to keep a look out for Schmur and to search their property and outbuildings for any sign of him,” said Chilliwack RCMP in a release.

Schmur is believed to be wearing a grey shirt, vest and long housecoat, red pajama pants, black slippers, and a red and white toque.

He’s described as a Caucasian man, standing at 5’7” and 125 pounds with grey hair.

“If you locate anything you think may be of assistance to investigators, please contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611.”
