CHILLIWACK — Wine spilled out onto the streets of Garrison after a pick-up truck rammed into a liquor store Friday night (Nov. 21).

At around 8 p.m., residents reported roughly seven police cars heading toward Market Way. One ambulance responded to the scene.

Witnesses on the scene say a white 2013 Dodge Ram 2500 backed into another pick-up truck– then drove forward into the Garrison Wine & Liquor’s wine shelves, with the male driver trying to run into the building.

RCMP say the driver was detained for impaired driving and brought back to the Chilliwack RCMP detachment where he provided breath samples.

“He did blow over the legal limit and will appear in Court at a later date,” said Sgt. Alexandra Greenley.

The 41-year-old Chilliwack driver has received a 90-day driving ban, and his truck has been impounded.

Police added that there were no serious injuries to anyone in the liquor store or from inside the truck, though one witness reports the white pick-up truck had an injured passenger.

BCEHS told Fraser Valley Today that paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient and took them to hospital in stable condition.

Investigation into the collision continues.
