Chilliwack Search and Rescue wins Defender Service Award and new Land Rover

CHILLIWACK — Following an outpouring of community support through online voting, Chilliwack Search and Rescue won a category of Land Rover’s 2025 Defender Service Awards at a gala in California.

Chilliwack Search and Rescue was previously named one of five finalists in September, before the top two finalists were narrowed to just Pemberton Search and Rescue and Chilliwack.

The volunteer-led group will now receive a new Land Rover Defender 130 for rescue needs and $30,000 U.S. cash to purchase gear.

“Last night at the Defender Service Awards gala in California, with the equally-deserving reps from Pemberton SAR, we were officially announced as the winner of the Search & Rescue category!” Chilliwack SAR announced over the weekend. “This win is your win! We asked for your votes and the overwhelming support from our community was inspiring. If you ever need emergency help, this Defender will now roll up with eight of our volunteer members to provide life saving supports where and when you need them most.”
