Road construction phase of Prest Road project in Chilliwack delayed to spring 2026
CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack says the next phase of the Prest Road widening project will not begin until next year, citing a delay in acquiring a required permit from the provincial government.
According to its website, the city says longer than anticipated delays in receiving the required archaeological permit from the province for necessary field investigation means the next phase of the Prest Road project won’t commence until spring 2026. Once the permit is received, the archaeological field investigation in the form of test holes can move forward under supervision of the archaeologist.
The city will then release the tender for the roadworks based on the shortlist approved by Chilliwack City Council this spring.
Between Nov. 10 and Dec. 15, there will be utility pole relocation works happening from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Motorists can expect delays with single-lane alternating traffic and intermittent traffic management.
