Township of Langley approves tattoo bylaw change, will allow tattoo businesses as permitted use
LANGLEY — The Township of Langley council issued a statement Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 27) saying that it has approved a bylaw amendment for tattooing to be permitted as a licensed business operation in the municipality.
According to a statement on its website, the township approved a bylaw amendment, which effectively updates the existing zoning bylaw that was amended in 1998 at the time to exclude the service as a permitted use.
The bylaw amendment also includes allowing microblading, a common cosmetic procedure typically used to tattoo on eyebrows, which acts as a valuable service for people who have lost their hair after chemotherapy treatment, the township wrote in its statement.
“I really felt I needed to push this one forward to allow businesses to provide this important service in our community,” stated Councillor Barb Martens.
