Procession for RCMP Constable Rick O’Brien Tuesday in Abbotsford
ABBOTSFORD — There will be a formal procession this afternoon in Abbotsford to recognize Constable Rick O’Brien, who tragically died in the line of duty last Friday in Coquitlam.
In a news release from the BC RCMP Tuesday morning, provincial Mounties say motorists traveling through the Fraser Valley along Highway 1 this afternoon should expect minor traffic delays as an RCMP procession will be traveling through the area to escort Cst. Rick O’Brien from Abbotsford Regional Hospital to a nearby funeral home, beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 26).
Policing was a second career for O’Brien, who worked with at-risk youth before joining the RCMP in 2016. He was assigned to the Ridge Meadows RCMP in the Lower Mainland.
