Popkum, Agassiz Fire respond to reported RV fire east of Chilliwack Sunday night

CHILLIWACK — Firefighters from the Popkum Fire Department and Agassiz Fire Department were dispatched for the report of a fire Sunday night on Alexis Crescent near West Victor Drive, south of the Agassiz-Rosedale Bridge, on what appears to be Cheam First Nation land.

According to scanner traffic overnight, at least four engines were deployed from Popkum (Engine 1, Engine 1-2, Rescue 1) and Agassiz (Squad 1) to tackle what turned out to be an RV fire in a driveway. The RV was fully engulfed and had multiple exposures. A BC Hydro pole was reportedly impacted by the fire as well.

Firefighters were first dispatched at approximately 11:28 p.m. Sunday night.

BC Hydro and RCMP personnel were summoned to the scene. BC Emergency Health Services staged near West Victor Drive.
