Motorist dies in crash east of Mission Thursday night despite efforts to save driver’s life

MISSION — Mounties in Mission say a 50-year-old motorist from Deroche died Thursday evening (Sept. 21) following a single-vehicle collision.

According to a Facebook post from the Mission RCMP, police were called to Husband Road in Deroche at around 6 p.m. for the report of a single-vehicle crash. Police and other first responders attended, where witnesses to the collision were performing CPR on the driver that had been ejected from the vehicle. Despite everyone’s best-efforts, the 50-year-old driver, who was from Deroche, died at the scene. There were no passengers in the vehicle.

Mission RCMP would like to thank the witnesses who stopped and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

The RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service team, as well as Mission RCMP’s Traffic Services unit attended and their investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the collision who has not yet spoken with police should call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
