ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford version of the “1MillionMarch4Children” drew nearly two times as many people as the Chilliwack demonstration.

According to an email sent to Fraser Valley Today Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 20), Constable Art Stele of the Abbotsford Police Department estimated the entire demonstration drew between 600 and 1,000 participants in Wednesday’s march against sexual orientation and gender identity curriculum in public schools.

Constable Stele said AbbyPD assisted with traffic control as the demonstration proceeded toward South Fraser Way and Justice Way from Jubilee Park where there were approximately 400 people walking.

The anti-SOGI rally in downtown Chilliwack attracted approximately 500 people.

No injuries or arrests were made in relation to the demonstration, Constable Stele pointed out.

Constable Stele said AbbyPD did affect an arrest in the general area, but the arrest was for another matter not involving the demonstration and resulted in no charges.
