**UPDATE: This serious motor vehicle accident has left two patients hospitalized, including one that was in critical condition, according to Joshua Grant, communications specialist for the Provincial Health Services Authority. Five ambulances attended the scene of Saturday’s accident, which impacted eastbound Hwy. 1 traffic for approximately 5 1/2 hours.**

**Corporal Dave Noon, a forensic collision reconstructionist with the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (LMD-ICARS), wrote on Twitter/X at 4:21 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 9) that the serious incident involved a motorcycle. Highway 1 eastbound at No. 3 Road fully reopened several hours after the initial crash.**

CHILLIWACK — Highway 1 eastbound traffic west of Chilliwack at No. 3 Road is heavily impacted following a serious motor vehicle accident Saturday afternoon that required an air ambulance to attend the scene.

According to Drive BC, a vehicle incident continues to block the eastbound travel lanes at No. 3 Road. Emergency personnel are on scene, Drive BC wrote at 2:37 p.m. and 3:17 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 9).

Motorists should expect major delays.

A picture shared by a Chilliwack resident shows a helicopter arriving on scene to presumably transport a patient. A second picture shared by this same Chilliwack resident shows a motorcycle on its side along, or near, Highway 1, an ambulance in the background, and several paramedics nearby.

There are unconfirmed reports from witnesses that the motor vehicle accident involved a motorcycle and first responders administered CPR, but this has not been confirmed by authorities.
