Man dies after being struck by a car on Lougheed Highway: Mission RCMP
MISSION — Mission RCMP say a man has died after apparently being struck by a vehicle in the 32000 block of Lougheed Highway Thursday night in Mission.
In a news statement, Mission RCMP responded to a report of a collision on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 9:35 p.m. Initial reports indicated a pedestrian had been hit by a car. Mission Fire Rescue Service and BC Ambulance Services responded to the scene. A male victim was located and life-saving efforts were initiated but the man died from his injuries, police say.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation. Impairment through either drugs or alcohol were determined not to be a factor.
The Integrated Collision and Reconstruction Service attended to examine the scene which resulted in the eastbound lane of Lougheed Hwy being closed for several hours. The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
