Rural Chilliwack fire departments collect staggering amounts of donated food this week for the Salvation Army
CHILLIWACK — Firefighters with two rural Chilliwack fire departments went the extra mile this week by collecting food for those who could use a little help this Christmas and holiday season.
In doing so, the volunteers came to realize just how generous Chilliwack residents are when others are in need.
The Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department announced on Facebook this week that it received 49 boxes of food and $580 in cash donations.
“Last night our crews were out in full force collecting canned food for the Salvation Army Food Bank,” the Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department wrote Wednesday night (Dec. 7). “We’d like to give a huge thanks to our amazing community for supporting such a great cause. In just over two hours we were able to collect 49 boxes of food and other items to help those in need. We also received $580 in cash donations. Thanks to all the residents of the CRV who helped out, we appreciate the support.”
