Construction to begin on four-lane widening of Highway 7 between Mission and Maple Ridge
MISSION/MAPLE RIDGE — A key stretch of Highway 7 between Mission and Maple Ridge will be upgraded and widened, giving commuters and commercial vehicles a better driving experience than the current infrastructure in place.
The B.C. government announced this week that construction between 266 Street and 287 Street of Highway 7 is set to begin this month.
According to a release from the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure Thursday (Nov. 17), a four-lane upgrade will improve safety and capacity for people travelling between Maple Ridge and Mission.
“This project will widen the last two-lane stretch of Highway 7 between the Haney Bypass in Maple Ridge and Mission to four lanes,” said Bob D’Eith, MLA for Maple Ridge-Mission, on behalf of Rob Fleming, B.C.’s Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure. “By adding a lane in each direction, with a centre median barrier, we’ll make this section of highway safer for drivers. I’ve been an advocate of this project from the beginning and it’s great to see construction getting started.”
