Section of Wolfe Road in Chilliwack closed after gas line struck

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack fire crews have been dispatched to Wolfe Road near Townsend Road after an excavator struck a gas line Tuesday morning.

According to scanner traffic, three Chilliwack Fire Department engines were first paged at about 10:46 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 28) after getting reports that an excavator hit a gas line in the 45000 block of Wolfe Road.

Firefighters told dispatch that a one-inch pressured gas line was struck.

Wolfe Road was closed to vehicular traffic at approximately 11:15 a.m.

Firefighters are currently experiencing multiple calls in the past hour, including a motor vehicle incident on Camp River Road, a reported fall, and a medical call on Spadina Avenue, among others. Fire Prevention Unit 1 left a home on Watson Road this morning after conducting a post-fire check from Sunday morning’s shed fire.
