Corvette driver’s need for speed backfires in Abbotsford as his sports car gets impounded

ABBOTSFORD – The 26-year-old driver of a Corvette will be looking for another way to get around the Fraser Valley after he was clocked at double the speed on Highway 11 in Abbotsford earlier this week.

Police say the driver of the high-powered sports car saw his vehicle heading for an impound lot after he was pulled over for going 160 km/h in a posted 80 zone on Tuesday night (June 23) on Highway 11 at Valley Road in Abbotsford.

Not only was his vehicle towed, the 26-year-old driver was issued a ticket for excessive speed over 60 km/h above the posted speed limit.

The Abbotsford PD says excessive speeders face mandatory seven-day vehicle impounds and hefty fines.
