Maple Ridge RCMP seize over 200g of drugs in four-day crackdown

MAPLE RIDGE — Officers in Maple Ridge are working to tackle drug trafficking in the downtown area this summer.

During a four-day period between late June and early July, Maple Ridge RCMP’s Strike Force Unit seized over 100 grams of fentanyl, 45 grams of meth, 43 grams of ecstasy and 20 grams of crack cocaine as a result of proactive patrols against suspected drug dealers.

Six people were arrested for alleged drug trafficking offences, with one facing possible deportation under the Immigration Act pending an immigration hearing. Two others were taken into custody on outstanding warrants.

“Our specialized teams will continue to enforce high-priority drug-related offences and associated behaviour in our city while at the same time working with our partners to address the ongoing mental health and toxic drug crisis across the region,” said Maple Ridge RCMP S/Sgt. Chris Kelly.
