CHILLIWACK — Some local figures spent over an hour in a slammer this week– and came out raising $12,000 for Chilliwack’s own Jail and Bail fundraiser in District 1881.
Arrestees like Mayor Ken Popove, 89.5 JR Country’s Glen Slingerland and even police service dog Nina had all been locked up downtown from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday (Sep. 19), to raise funds for the Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers.
“We are a registered charity and your support raises funds to promote crime awareness through the use of anonymous tips on criminal activity,” wrote the organization.
