2 contracting companies fined for unsafe work practices at Fraser Valley worksites
FRASER VALLEY – Two contracting firms have been fined by a provincial regulator for unsafe workplace practices at two work sites in the Fraser Valley.
WorkSafeBC says a fine of $2,500 was imposed on May 26, 2026, against Simarn Homes, which was the prime contractor and owner of a house that had been demolished in Mission.
Personnel from WorkSafeBC determined that the clearance letter indicating all asbestos-containing materials had been removed was incorrect.
Simarn Homes failed to ensure that before demolition of a building commenced, it safely contained or removed all hazardous materials. This violation is considered high risk by WorkSafeBC.
