Occupants of weekend rollover on the Coquihalla suffer only bruises, scrapes

COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY — A family member whose parents and siblings were involved in a rollover accident on the Coquihalla Highway over the weekend is expressing thanks after multiple people and first responders came to their aid after the incident.

According to the text of a social media post dated Sunday, Sept. 14 at 5:15 p.m., an anonymous Facebook user said their parents and siblings all walked away from a “horrible rollover” accident on Saturday with just scrapes and bruises.

A picture shared on Facebook depicts a vehicle on its side surrounded by a tow truck, ambulance, fire engine and first responders.

The PulsePoint app states there was a motor vehicle incident on Saturday, Sept. 13 at approximately 3:25 p.m. on the Coquihalla, southwest of Kamloops. Approximately four Kamloops-area ambulance units responded, in addition to firefighters.

“To the amazing lady that helped my mom get the windshield open, and help everyone climb out, thank you! You are an amazing person,” the Facebook user said. “To the incredible man that spoke so softly to my mom and gave her water, thank you! To the kind men that offered Gatorade to the kids, thank you!”

First responders conducted their duties with efficiency and professionalism, the person said.

“And thank you to all of the first responders for working so quickly to get everyone assessed and off to the hospital. My family is home safe and sound thanks to all of these amazing people. Stay safe on the roads everyone!”
