ABBOTSFORD — The fifth annual Raghbir Riarh Memorial Golf Tournament has hit a hole in one this year by surpassing its fundraising goal and securing a much-needed CPR machine for Abbotsford Regional Hospital.

Over $26,000 was raised in the event held in July at Fraser Glen Golf Course, with 120 golfers coming together in tribute to businessman and beloved community member Raghbir Riarh.

Funds raised will go directly to the purchase of a LUCAS CPR machine for the local hospital’s emergency department.

These devices give high-quality chest compressions during cardiac arrest, reducing human fatigue and freeing up medical staff to focus on other aspects of patient care.

“[Raghbir] was a man who always gave back to everyone around him, and we wanted to continue that legacy,” said Gaurav Sandhar, an organizer with the Raghbir Riarh Legacy Foundation.

“We are very honoured to be able to have his spirit continue to lead the growth of the organisation.”

The Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation teamed up with the organization to support its annual fundraiser. Anyone interested in supporting hospitals or hosting third-party events can contact Dr. Lakhbir Jassal to learn more at lakhbir.jassal@fraserhealth.ca.
