FRASER VALLEY — Homicide detectives in B.C. are appealing to the public for help in identifying a vehicle of interest as authorities continue to advance the investigation into the death of a 29-year-old man earlier this year.

According to a statement from IHIT spokesperson Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi, Surrey frontline officers were dispatched for calls of a shooting on March 3, 2025 at 5:25 p.m. near the 7900 block of 120 Street in Surrey. On arrival, Surrey Police Service personnel located the driver of a vehicle suffering life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving measures, 29-year-old Jaskaran Singh Minhas, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

IHIT’s Integrated Gang Homicide Team (IGHT) was summoned to investigate. Cpl. Dhesi says authorities have made significant progress since the outset. As homicide investigators pursued what they called the “evidence trail,” investigators have identified several persons of interest and believe multiple individuals were involved in the planning and execution of this targeted shooting.

Police say a red Dodge Charger was used by the suspects in the shooting and subsequently set on fire a short distance away in Delta. Investigators believe the suspects were also using the Dodge Charger in the weeks leading up to the shooting for planning purposes. Police are now releasing images of the Dodge Charger, with distinct markings, in hopes of advancing the investigation.

Throughout the course of the investigation, IGHT investigators have obtained evidence that the Dodge Charger was in an area near the U.S. border in Abbotsford as well as the Fleetwood area of Surrey, leading up to the shooting.

“This vehicle stands out and we urge anyone that has any information on the vehicle and/or the occupants to come forward and speak to IHIT,” said Cpl. Dhesi. “This is a tragic event for Mr. Mihas’ family, and they are asking anyone with information about this homicide to come forward and assist in getting answers about the loss of their son.”

Through IHIT, the Minhas has released a statement expressing profound sorrow over the loss of their son.

“We are heartbroken parents desperately seeking answers about what happened to our son, Jaskaran. He was tragically killed in a gang-related incident, and since that day, our lives have been turned upside down as we cope with this unimaginable loss,” the family said. “We are still searching for answers. If you were present, heard anything, or saw something, please come forward. You may hold the key to helping us understand why this happened to our son. Even if he is not coming back, all we want is the truth and closure. As parents, we need to know why this happened and who is responsible. No one should lose their child like we have.”
