MISSION – A 24-year-old Chilliwack driver will need to find an alternate means of transportation around the Fraser Valley after police say she rolled her vehicle and was found to be impaired a little over a week ago.

According to a weekly recap from Mission RCMP spokesperson Corporal Harrison Mohr, three impaired drivers were taken off Mission-area roads within an hour of each other on the night of Sunday, June 14, two of which were made possible thanks to alert members of the public who contacted authorities about motorists they believe were impaired.

In the case of the 24-year-old Chilliwack driver, first responders attended a single-vehicle collision along Richards Avenue in Mission. Officers arrived to find a white Honda upside down on its roof. Fortunately, neither of the occupants were seriously injured, however, the driver failed two roadside screening tests.

She was given a 90-day driving ban and her Honda vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

As for the other two other motorists who were impaired, all within an hour of one another, an officer responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in a grey Ford F-150 just before 10 p.m. Police say a 31-year-old Kamloops man was located impaired outside a fast food restaurant along Lougheed Highway in Mission. He had slurred speech and glossy eyes and failed two roadside screening tests.

In the third incident, a couple driving westbound along Lougheed Highway in the Deroche area called police to report that the Toyota 4Runner in front of them was swerving and driving at erratic speeds. Mission RCMP found the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop near Stave Lake Street. The 46-year-old male driver exhibited signs of impairment, and also failed two roadside screening tests.

“Mission RCMP thank the members of the public who reported these drivers, and encourage anyone who suspects they see an impaired driver to call 911,” police said.
