Motorcyclist killed in overnight crash on Highway 11 in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD — A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with an SUV early Thursday (July 31) morning on Highway 11. Abbotsford police say the crash occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. near Townshipline Road.

Despite lifesaving efforts, the driver of the motorcycle died at the scene. The driver of the SUV was treated for non-life-threatening injuries by paramedics.

While still early in the investigation, police believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the collision.

Investigators are working with the RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service to piece together the events that led to the collision.

Officials expect the northbound lanes of Highway 11 will remain closed to rush hour traffic this morning between Old Clayburn Road and Harris Road.
