MONTREAL — The Montreal Canadiens have traded defenceman Justin Barron to the Nashville Predators in exchange for blueliner Alexandre Carrier.

The Canadiens announced the deal Wednesday night, a little more than 24 hours before the NHL’s holiday roster freeze.

Barron produced 13 goals and 18 assists in 116 games with the Canadiens. He spent his time in Montreal split between the NHL and American Hockey League after arriving via trade from the Colorado Avalanche in 2022.

The 23-year-old from Halifax had one goal in 17 NHL games this season.
