Update: 69-year-old Abbotsford man hit by car, suffers life-threatening injuries

UPDATE 8:30 P.M. TUESDAY: Sgt. Paul Walker of the AbbyPD says police responded to the 32900 block of George Ferguson Way for a reported collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian. On arrival, first responders found a single vehicle that had struck a pedestrian on the road. The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Walker said, and was transported to hospital via air ambulance.

Sgt. Walker said at the time of the collision, the pedestrian was crossing the roadway through moving traffic and not in a crosswalk. Alcohol is not being considered as a factor in the collision.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, remained on scene and is cooperating with authorities. AbbyPD patrol officers, with the aid of the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, remain on scene and are in the preliminary stages of the investigation.

ABBOTSFORD — George Ferguson Way in Abbotsford is currently closed in both directions between Ware Street and Trafalgar Street Tuesday night due to a serious motor vehicle incident.

According to a brief social media post, AbbyPD is currently on scene in the 32900 block of George Ferguson Way after a pedestrian was reportedly struck. Police say the road is expected to be closed for several hours.

People are reporting on Facebook that a pedestrian was hit.
