Candidate Shelly Jan withdraws from race in Langley-Abbotsford, says Elections BC
VICTORIA – Elections BC says independent candidate Shelly Jan has withdrawn in Langley-Abbotsford, even though her name will still appear on voting ballots during the election.
The non-partisan Office of the Legislature confirmed the departure on Wednesday, leaving five candidates vying for the riding in the October election.
“Under the Election Act, a candidate may withdraw from an election at any time up until 48 hours before the start of advance voting,” Elections BC said in a statement.
Advance voting starts on Thursday, October 10, and runs until the 16th.
