Investigation into the deaths of Ottawa teens is continuing

OTTAWA — An Ontario coroner is investigating the deaths of two 17-year-old boys who fell through ice in Ottawa.

Police say a report came in late Wednesday about a group of four teens falling through the ice on the Rideau River in the city’s south end.

On Thursday morning police said two teens were taken to hospital and divers later found the other two missing boys dead.

A school board official says both Ahmed Ahmed and Riley Cotter were students at John McCrae Secondary School.

Diane Pernari says mental-health supports will be available for students when they return in the new year.
