Chiefs stay composed in big win at home to force Game 7.

The Chiefs were back in the Chilliwack Coliseum taking on their second-round opponent, the Prince George Spruce Kings, for a must-win Game 6 on Sunday night.

Chilliwack got on the board first for the sixth time in the series. The first two periods played out score-wise just as they did the last time these two teams met in Chilliwack for Game 4. A power play goal in the first period by Jack Plandowski opened the scoring before the teams exchanged a goal each in the middle frame. Boris Borin patiently outwaited the Spruce Kings defender before sending one past Prince George’s net minder. A bouncing puck led to a lucky Prince George goal to get them within one after David Di Girolamo made a poke check save that sent the puck bouncing over head before landing in the blue paint just as a Spruce Kings’ player was crashing the net.

The Chiefs started the third period strong with two goals in the first five minutes. Markuss Sieradzkis scored the first before a perfectly played 2-on-1 with Boris Borin and Koby Francis led to a tap-in goal for Francis. A power play goal by Prince George decreased Chilliwack’s lead to two. The rest of the final frame saw Chilliwack’s composure tested as Prince George turned up the edge, trying everything they could to rattle the Chiefs and get them off their game, but Chilliwack didn’t bite. The Chiefs stayed locked in, composed, and played their game, not succumbing to the Spruce Kings’ attempts.

Chilliwack came out victorious with a final score of 4-2. David Di Girolamo made some notable great saves to keep the Chiefs’ momentum going throughout the game. The team stayed calm under pressure and played as a unit to secure the win and feel confident as they head on the road for Game 7, where they will have the chance to advance to Round 3.
