CHILLIWACK — As if the smoky skies and related smell weren’t evident Thursday morning in Chilliwack, air quality in the eastern Fraser Valley is expected to worsen on Friday (Aug. 25).
Metro Vancouver says smoky skies are slated to return Friday in Chilliwack and the surrounding area due to the reemergence of smoke from wildfires throughout BC.
Environment Canada projects that there will be widespread smoke starting late Thursday night and into Friday for Chilliwack.
The eastern Fraser Valley region encompassing Chilliwack, Agassiz and Hope is expected to have an Air Quality Health Index reading of 7, meaning there is a high health risk to certain residents who remain outdoors.
