Chilliwack Fire Dept. responds to utility pole on fire in Promontory Wednesday morning

CHILLIWACK — Personnel from BC Hydro and the Chilliwack Fire Department were dispatched to the area of Teskey Way and Hudson Road Wednesday morning after a hydro pole caught fire and was reportedly smoking at one point.

According to information collected by Chilliwack resident Julie Hiscock, a pole on Teskey Way caught fire at approximately 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, prompting a response from at least two Chilliwack fire engines. The pole had been smoking, Hiscock said.

The primary line started to burn off as Chilliwack firefighters waited for BC Hydro staff to arrive.

BC Hydro was summoned and responded within 40 minutes of the incident being reported. Hydro personnel arrived on scene at about 8:01 a.m.
