Prolific offender spends a day on Abbotsford streets before being arrested again in stolen vehicle
ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford Police have released information about the latest prolific offender that has been arrested in the city, shortly after being released for a previous crime.
In a news release, officers spotted a stolen Toyota 4-Runner along Victoria Street Saturday night at 6:15 p.m. Plainclothes officers followed the vehicle until it stopped in the 31900 block of South Fraser Way.
The male driver recognized his situation and tried to make a run for it but was captured after a brief foot chase. He has been identified as 47-year-old Albert Fontaine. Police allege Fontaine was impaired by alcohol when he was arrested and that he was breaching numerous conditions of his conditional sentence order from the court.
Fontaine had been convicted of possession of stolen property involving another stolen vehicle and had been released from custody on a conditional sentence order a day earlier.
