CHILLIWACK — The Bannister Auto Group of Chilliwack has made a significant donation towards the largest project in the nearly 100-year history of Chilliwack Community Services (CCS).

In a Facebook post from Bannister Hyundai of Chilliwack on Thursday, March 15, Brian Westwell of the Bannister Auto Group Chilliwack presented a magnanimous donation of $100,000 to Luke Zacharias, board president of Chilliwack Community Services, CCS executive director Kate Healey, and Shirley Triemstra of CCS, towards the Paramount Project capital campaign.

According to the Facebook post, the Paramount project has been a dream of Chilliwack Community Services for many years.

“The Paramount Project is the result of our vision to help our community to address housing affordability, particularly for seniors and young adults,” the Facebook post from Bannister Hyundai Chilliwack stated. “CCS has a long history of providing safe and affordable housing through our Village Olympic Project, and this project builds on our commitment to housing. Through this project, we are providing 66 units of housing, 58 for seniors and eight for young adults, comprised of units running from deep subsidy to under-market rent prices. We are also able through the Paramount Project to bring together staff of CCS to one location on the first two floors. CCS is also committed to the downtown and to being part of its amazing redevelopment through the efforts of the City and CEPCO.”

Chilliwack Community Services wrote on its website that it is grateful to the many partners who have been involved in this project including CPA Development Consultants, specifically Graham Plant and Sevda Safarova; Station One Architects, specifically Justin Dyck, Chelsea Mueller, Leon Schroeder, and Darren Les; Gerry Enns Construction, specifically Gerry Enns, Ian Poettcker, Jarrod Offereins, and Karen Vandenberg.

It also acknowledges the significant financial support of such government entities as the federal government through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the province of B.C. through B.C. Housing, and the City of Chilliwack and Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation for the donations of land and fee waivers.

CCS will move its operations into the first two floors of the building, which are concrete. The remaining four floors are residential.

The building has an expected completion date of early 2024.
