IHIT called to Abbotsford for suspicious death of 24-year-old woman in apt. complex
ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford Police Department announced Wednesday (Mar. 15) it is investigating a suspicious, sudden death of a 24-year-old woman whose body was discovered in an apartment complex on McKenzie Road Tuesday evening.
In a statement from Sgt. Paul Walker, media relations spokesperson for the Abbotsford Police Department, Abbotsford patrol officers responded at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night (Mar. 14) to a report of a sudden death inside a residence at an apartment complex in the 2200 block of McKenzie Road, just east of downtown Abbotsford.
On arrival, police investigated the scene; B.C. Coroners Service attended as well. Sgt. Walker says through this investigation, authorities believe the death of the 24-year-old female to be suspicious.
While the Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit is in the preliminary phase of its investigation, early indications suggest this incident is isolated to the residence. Sgt. Walker says Abbotsford Police will transition the investigation to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT); IHIT media will provide further details.
