Snow blankets Chilliwack and Abbotsford overnight
CHILLIWACK — They warned us it was coming, but the amount of snow that fell over the Fraser Valley overnight, is still surprising.
Road crews were expecting the snow and have been working since early Sunday (Feb. 26) morning to clear roadways however Abbotsford Police are still asking residents to postpone any unnecessary travel today.
According to Environment Canada, 31 cm of snow fell in Chilliwack while the Abbotsford International Airport saw 23 cm of snow.
There have been no major crashes reported on Fraser Valley roads, however a westbound semi-truck jack-knifed along Highway 1, blocking the left lane east of the Bradner rest area in Abbotsford shortly after 8:30 a.m.
