RCMP announced Friday they have charged 56-year-old Vojislav Zmukic of Coquitlam with one count of assault for allegedly assaulting a member of the media who was covering a February 2022 protest at the Pacific Highway border crossing. SURREY — Surrey RCMP announced Friday that charges have been laid in connection to the assault of a member of the media at the Pacific Highway border protests last February.
On February 19, 2022, during a protest near 8 Avenue and 176 Street in Surrey, BC, it is alleged that a camera operator who was filming the crowd was assaulted. (Media release 2022-02-19)
The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit took conduct of the file and through extensive investigation were able to identify a suspect.
On February 15, 2023, 56-year-old, Vojislav Zmukic of Coquitlam, BC, was charged with one count of Assault. He was later arrested and released on an undertaking with a court date in March 2023.
