Chilliwack RCMP investigating early morning fire in Soowahlie First Nation

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack RCMP are investigating after a fire broke out early Thursday morning on Soowahlie First Nation land near Cultus Lake.

According to Jamie Leggatt, director of communications for the City of Chilliwack, Chilliwack Fire Department and Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Soowahlie First Nation land at about 1 a.m. early Thursday morning, February 23.

The fire was contained to one building there on Soowahlie land and there were no injuries or fatalities, Leggatt said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Chilliwack RCMP.
