Tanya Coghill running for Abbotsford school trustee

ABBOTSFORD — Tanya Coghill, a self-described longtime school volunteer and mentor to parent councils, has announced she is running for Abbotsford school trustee in the upcoming election.

Coghill has volunteered in the Abbotsford School District for 20 years and has served students and families since 2007. She was selected as the 2023 recipient of the Abbotsford Board of Education’s Community Matters Award.

Born and raised in Abbotsford, Coghill has held leadership roles with local sports organizations, children’s ministries at Central Heights Church, Parent Advisory Councils and the District Parent Advisory Council. She has also developed a presentation advocating gender equity and highlighting the experience of girls in the education system.

In a news release, Coghill says she finished second to Arshveer Kaler in a byelection for an empty school board seat a year ago and helped open Irene Kelleher Totí:ltawtxw. volunteering full time during the school’s first year and working with several district departments.
