CHILLIWACK — A waterpark where 12 schoolchildren suffered burns in June is now preparing for a phased reopening after an investigation by Technical Safety BC.

In a statement, Cultus Lake Waterpark says the organization provided non-compliance certificates and a facility-wide review that ensured conditions from the June 15 incident were not present in other areas of the park.

The review of electrical work included verifying lights, grounding and bonding, and metal railings and objects. Assessments with WorkSafeBC, Fraser Health and other contractors were also conducted to check the park’s natural gas, chemical systems and other equipment.

“To complete this work thoroughly and efficiently, we are focusing on specific areas of the park and completing all required reviews and corrections before reopening those areas to guests,” said the Waterpark.
