Update: 6 trailers confirmed burned, lost at RV campground in Harrison Hot Springs Tuesday (VIDEO)

Update, 6:15 p.m. Tuesday: The Harrison Hot Springs Fire Department has confirmed 6 trailers were burned and lost in today’s fire at an RV campground on Hot Springs Road.

An investigation into the cause is currently underway.

“We want to extend a huge thank you to our mutual aid partners, Agassiz Fire Department and Popkum Motor Transport/Fire, for their rapid assistance and support on this scene,” HHSFD wrote online at 5:51 p.m. “Please avoid the area to allow emergency crews to work safely.”

HARRISON HOT SPRINGS – A fire has broken out in the Village of Harrison Hot Springs Tuesday afternoon.

The Harrison Hot Springs Fire Department posted to social media at 4:24 p.m. Tuesday that it is aware of an active fire on Hot Springs Road.

The fire is at, or near, the Springs RV on Hot Springs Road.

HHSFD says all available crews are currently on scene working diligently alongside Agassiz Fire to contain the fire.

Popkum Fire Department crews are reportedly helping out as well.

HHSFD is asking residents and motorists to avoid the area entirely to allow emergency vehicles clear and rapid access.

​”Please give our members plenty of space to do their jobs safely,” HHSFD said online. “​We will provide updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your cooperation and for keeping our community and first responders safe!”

Harrison-area resident Lynn Brooks told Fraser Valley Today she heard explosions and saw black columns of smoke coming from the area of the inferno.

An on-scene witness William Snow tells Fraser Valley Today the fire is reportedly impacting more than one trailer and several bushes.

There are reports that propane tanks were heard exploring during the fire.

Snow told Fraser Valley Today that as of 5:35 p.m., there’s a little bit of smoke still coming from the campground, and fire crews remain on scene.
