30-ha wildfire breaks out northeast of Merritt

MERRITT – A wildfire on the north end of Stump Lake along Highway 5A has grown to 30 hectares in size since it was discovered Tuesday (June 16) morning northeast of Merritt.

The BC Wildfire Service says the Kullagh Creek wildfire is burning out of control. 

A suspected cause is under investigation. There are no area restrictions or evacuation alerts as of publication. 

Helicopters and 55 firefighting personnel are responding to the fire.
