ABBOTSFORD – A spokesperson for the Abbotsford Police Department says a large John Deere tractor valued at over $1 million was damaged during a motor vehicle accident involving a passenger vehicle Monday afternoon in rural Abbotsford.

AbbyPD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker tells Fraser Valley Today that police were called to the intersection of Campbell Road and McDermott Road at just after 2 p.m. Monday (June 15) after a tractor and passenger vehicle collided.

When police arrived, both the tractor and the passenger vehicle sustained significant damage. Surprisingly, both drivers suffered only minor injuries, with the driver of the passenger vehicle transported to hospital as a precaution.

Sgt. Walker says speed and alcohol have been ruled out as contributing factors. Both drivers are cooperating with police, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation. The tractor involved is valued at over $1 million.

“Police are reminding motorists that farm equipment is a common sight on rural roadways here in Abbotsford, particularly during the spring and summer months,” Sgt. Walker said. “These vehicles often travel at slower speeds and require extra space to maneuver. Drivers are urged to remain patient, avoid risky passing, and stay alert when encountering farm machinery to help prevent collisions and keep everyone on the road safe.”

Anyone that may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the AbbyPD at 604-859-5225.
