Roughly 165,000 chickens lost to Gladwin farm fire in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD —  About 165,000 chickens have been killed in a devastating series of barn fires Thursday afternoon, says the City of Abbotsford.

At around 4 p.m., Abbotsford firefighters were called to the incident at 581 Gladwin Road.

Thirteen crews attended the scene, with excavators brought in to help put out the fire.

Three barns have been destroyed in the blaze, and one firefighter has also been sent to hospital for heat exhaustion.
