Police in Hope arrest man for tossing rocks at passing vehicles
HOPE – Mounties in Hope say a man who is known to police was arrested for throwing rocks into traffic on Flood Hope Road last week, causing significant damage to one vehicle.
RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says a motorist told them that a rock thrown by a man struck their vehicle and caused “substantial damage.”
Police responded and located a man matching the suspect description. When police attended, the man was observed throwing large sticks into the roadway. The man, who is known to police, was arrested for mischief.
Police learned that he had a variety of other rocks in his possession and observed additional rocks scattered across the road. Investigators learned the man had been admonished by police earlier that day for similar behaviour that hadn’t caused any damage.
