Arrest made in property crimes in Chilliwack, Cultus Lake: RCMP
CHILLIWACK/CULTUS LAKE – Police in Chilliwack say one person has been arrested in connection to a series of vehicle thefts and thefts from cars that have been reported throughout Chilliwack and in the Cultus Lake area over the past two months.
Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says the increase in reported thefts since the end of June 2026 has resulted in community concern and discussion on local social media platforms. Cpl. Kiener says local police want to reassure residents that authorities pay close attention to crime trends and utilize crime analysis to identify emerging patterns, locations of concern, and individuals suspected of criminal activity or involvement.
As a result of a coordinated investigation between Chilliwack RCMP frontline officers and the Priority Target Team, a suspect was arrested on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in connection to several of the reported thefts, Cpl. Kiener said.
Police did not reveal the suspect’s name but typically release the accused’s name once charges have been approved by the B.C. Prosecution Service.
