Motorcycle, utility trailer stolen from Mission properties early April

A man in a Seadoo was stranded in the middle of Stave Lake on the evening of April 9 due to engine trouble and a lack of cell service, but he was able to contact his friend via satellite.

An officer and a Good Samaritan then attended the scene after that friend called the police and posted on Facebook.

“The mariner welcomed police aboard his boat, and they headed out into the lake, eventually finding the stranded Seadoo rider and helping him back to shore,” shared Mission RCMP. “Fortunately the Seadoo rider was uninjured, and was thankful for the assistance.”

In the same week, paramedics were paged out to a report of a vehicle involved in a collision on Dewdney Trunk Road, north of Mill Pond.

Officers then arrived to find a damaged blue Nissan Pathfinder pulled over on the side of the road with an unresponsive driver and airbags deployed.

The 48-year-old Mission man woke up uninjured and said he didn’t know what had damaged his vehicle.

“Based on the driver’s symptoms, the officer believed he was under the influence of drugs,” said Mission RCMP. “The man was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.”

Results of a blood sample taken by the hospital showed the man could face a “lengthy” driving ban or criminal charges.

Mission RCMP’s Community Connection says officers responded to a total of 337 calls for service in the week of April 6 to April 12.
