Chiefs Make Strong Return Home with 7-3 Win
Chiefs’ Markuss Sieradzkis carried the team to a 7-3 victory over the Surrey Eagles with a four-goal night.
It was Grad Night, presented by Domino’s, at the Chilliwack Coliseum and the first night of parents weekend. The excitement started before the puck drop with an instrumental anthem performance by Kris Schulz and a special welcoming to the ice from the Chiefs’ parents. The graduating high school students of Chilliwack were celebrated throughout the night with a fun relay race between schools and an amazing performance by the Sardis Drumline. To top it off, a big two-point win made it a night to remember.
The two teams exchanged a pair of goals in the first frame. Chilliwack got their two in quick succession with Arjun Bawa opening the scoring in his first game wearing an ‘A’ on his jersey. Just 12 seconds later, Markuss Sieradzkis netted the second. The two-goal lead was quickly fleeting, as Surrey scored their own two, leaving the teams tied going into the first intermission.
Sieradzkis got his second of the night early in the second period to take the lead back for the Chiefs. Just a couple of minutes later, the Eagles sucked the energy out of the crowd with their own goal to tie the game back up. Chilliwack regained control of the game, starting with a go-ahead goal from Dustin Renas. Boris Borin netted an insurance goal with an excellent tip off of Koby Francis’ shot.
