CHILLIWACK — BC Transit, in partnership with the City of Chilliwack and FVRD, announced Thursday morning that expanded bus service will take effect in Chilliwack and Agassiz-Harrison in early January.

According to a statement, the expanded bus service is intended to improve the overall customer experience for transit riders.

Beginning January 4, 2026, later weekday and weekend service will be added along with more frequent service on Saturday evenings to Route 51 UFV.

Other changes for Chilliwack consist of the following:

• Additional Sunday evening service for Route 51 Evans, Route 53 Fairfield, Route 54 Promontory, Route 57 Broadway and Route 58 Tyson.

• Route 57 service on Carleton Street will be shifted one block east to McNaught Road. New bus stops will be available on McNaught and Acorn.

BC Transit says service on Route 66 Fraser Valley Express (FVX) will expand with more trips leaving Chilliwack on Saturdays and Sundays. The transit authority says that in order to maintain connections to the FVX, minor trip time adjustments are being made. They’re asking people to kindly check the latest Rider’s Guide for the latest trip times.

In Agassiz-Harrison, minor adjustments are being made to weekday and Saturday trip times on Route 71.

“This will help maintain connections to the FVX,” BC Transit said.
