BREAKING: Coquihalla Highway reopens in both directions between Hope and Merritt

UPDATE: 2:45 P.M. WEDNESDAY: DriveBC reported just minutes ago that both directions of the Coquihalla Highway have reopened between Hope and  Merritt.

Original story from 6:36 p.m. Tuesday: 

COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY — One direction of the Coquihalla Highway is under a travel advisory Tuesday evening amid word that a semi trailer has reportedly jackknifed.

In the midst of a snowfall warning for the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt, DriveBC posted on social media at 5:59 p.m. that a travel advisory has been issued for southbound Hwy. 5. Motorists should expect delays at the Zopkios rest area.

A Facebook user named L.D. Nijjar posted at 5:18 p.m. in the Coquihalla Road Reports that a semi truck jackknifed on southbound Highway 5 at Zopkios downhill, noting the road is extremely slippery and motorists should take caution.
