CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack says phase two of a project to add over a dozen parking spaces to downtown Chilliwack should be completed sometime this month.

According to the December edition of its monthly transportation newsletter, city staff say the municipality purchased four parcels of land along the north side of Victoria Avenue, east of Young Road, in the city’s downtown core roughly a block from District 1881. The previous structures on the properties were demolished to prepare to build additional parking spaces.

Phase one of the project has been completed at 46017 and 46029 Victoria Avenue, which was converted into a one-way road from Young Road to Nowell Street.

“This allowed for additional parking spaces to be built within this section of roadway,” the city wrote in its newsletter. “Additionally, two of the three lots are now open creating 41 parking stalls in the downtown area. Four stalls have level 2 electric vehicle chargers.”
