Residents invited to first Chilliwack-wide free swap event at Evergreen Hall
CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack is looking to turn one resident’s trash into another person’s treasure with an upcoming city-wide event.
On November 30, locals are invited to the City’s first Free Swap event. Staff will take donated items and hand out swap tickets, which residents can use to bring home items from the swap tables. All are welcome – whether they donate or not.
“[The Free Swap event is] a fun, community-driven way to give new life to gently used items, reduce waste, and help your neighbours find something useful in return,” wrote the City. “This free event encourages residents to rethink waste by keeping usable items in circulation and out of the landfill.”
Each household may bring one grocery bag-sized donation of clothes and/or bring up to five non-clothing items, such as books, kitchenware or toys. All donations must be clean, gently used and stain-free. Items that are dirty, broken, or unsafe will be declined.
